The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) are investigating allegations of mismanagement of sh1.5bn given by President Museveni to Uganda Music Promoters SACCO (UMPS) in January 2026.
UMPS leaders, including Chairperson Katongole Paul, Mayanja Godfrey, Kaweesi Yasin, Abbey Musinguzi a.k.a Abtex, and Kafeero Zaidi have been summoned to appear before SHACU today on February 9, 2026.
The investigation follows allegations of misusing funds meant for music promoters, echoing similar concerns raised about the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) regarding Sh13 billion allocated to support artists.
