NRM Buganda Region Women’s League Vice Chairperson Nominated for Councillorship

The elected NRM Buganda Region Vice Chairperson women’s league from the recently concluded party delagates conference held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Juliet Kalule Nassuuna, has  been among the nominated candidates in Mukono district.

Nassuuna has been nominated for the post of district direct councillor representing Nakisunga sub-county. After her nomination, Nakisunga journalists who asked for reasons why she did not get contented with the party national leadership position, saying though the post she recently won gives her mandate to serve her NRM party for the whole Buganda region, she feels that her leadership skills are needed also at the lower level.

“Mukono district is highly dominated by the opposition and Mukono South constituency where I am hailing from is part of the opposition infested constituencies. I have the support from my home sub-county which will help me recover Nakisunga sub-county from the hands of the opposition,” Nassuuna said.

Owing to restrictions on levels of jubilation and merry making, the traditional ‘kadodi’ and other traditional dancing jigs, motorcades and loud music were greatly limited.

After nominations, the NRM flag bearers for Mukono district chairmanship, Francis Mukoome Lukooya decried what he called total breakdown of projects he had initiated during his two terms as district leader, and said that last year, Mukono district which was in 4th position rating earlier, stood at 45th position.

Lukooya lamented that although the district was the first one to buy a grader and a water drilling ridge, now has a water coverage standing at only 35%, and attributed this to the fact that the equipment is now hired out to other districts at the cost of satisfying requirements of Mukono people as a prerequisite.

Once in office Lukooya said, he is going to begin by revamping collapsed projects he had started, including a youth call centre which he noted has been reduced to an internet café instead of providing online connectivity services for youths, adding that his prime object was to reduce on youths flocking to Arab countries in search for jobs.

Anna Lubuulwa who was elected unopposed as the NRM flag bearer for Nagojje district councillor pledged to put her hand in all government programmes, and to offer good service in all sectors.
