Kabugo apologized for shortcomings that led to loss of victory by the NRM in the 2021 elections, and appealed to the electorates to massively vote for the party this time round.
NRM flag bearer for the Goma division Chairperson, Hannington Kabugo Tamale on Wednesday officially joined the race, following his nomination.
Kabugo, also known as Kawaida brings the number of the candidates vying for the seat to four. Others include; Humphry Herbert Kyasa, the incumbent who was entrusted with the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag, Haji Lukeman Sseggayi (independent), who is the outgoing Mukono district councillor representing Goma division and Joseph Wamala (DP).
Kabugo began the day with the traditional motorcade procession through Mukono streets during which he addressed the public, asking them to vote for him, narrating the multitude of good things he has done for the division and his next plan of action on being given the mandate.

After nomination formalities, he promised to take the opportunity of the many industries in Namanve Industrial Park to lobby for the youth in his division as a means of curbing the looming employment, one of the major challenges affecting his youthful electorates.

The nomination for different aspirants for sub-counties, and town councils is still ongoing up to 24th September 2025.
