The National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has mobilized food to feed the starving government sponsored students of Makerere University.

Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine has today served over 300 students with a befitting meal and on top of that packed for them at least ten kilo grams of maize floor and rice for each student.

NUP Secretary General, David Lewis Lubongoya has shared the information including photos of Kyagulanyi and the students at the party headquarters located at Kavule in Kawempe.

“Earlier at the @NUP_Ug Headquarters, we gave out food supplies to over 300 starving Government Sponsored students of Makerere University and shared a decent meal with them. With all the money we see being wasted on all manner of things, it is very difficult to fathom that they cannot find money to pay living allowances for these students on time.

It was very painful listening to stories of what some students have had to engage themselves in trying to survive. Hopefully one day we shall have a government that prioritizes the welfare of the people of Uganda. It’s crazy that the police were actively involved in intimidating students not to come to receive this relief or they risked being suspended from the University! We need a reset!”

The students’ plight came to light after Makerere-based Pentecostal Pastor Martin Ssempa shared the issue on his X handle, calling for a heating debate, sympathy and criticism from the public.
