The parliamentary committee on appointments has approved Justice Hajat Aisha Naluzze Batala’s appointment as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG) to replace Beti Olive Namisango Kamya.

Justice Naluzze was named the next IGG by President Museveni in exercise of his powers under Section 223 (1) of the constitution, and he re-appointed Dr. Patricial Achan Okiria and Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe as her deputies. They have been the deputies under the outgoing IGG Beti Kamya.

The appointments committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa on Friday convened in a two-hour closed meeting during which they scrutinized Naluzze’s academic credentials and quizzed her on a number of issues to establish whether she is eligible for the new appointment.

On being declared successful, Hajati Naluzze swore to leave no stone unturned in the bid to conclusively curb corruption and other forms exhibiting lack of integrity in government offices.

She vowed not to spare any culprit incriminated in any form of bribery, and added that her appointment should be seen as a beginning step to ending lack of integrity in public offices.

Aged 48 years, she is the daughter of former Chief Kadhi Sheikh Obeid Kamulegeya and sister to Haji Obeid Lutale who is jailed with Dr. Kizza Besigye on charges of treason and making plots to kill President Museveni.
