The National Assistant Coordinator for the Parish Development Model (PDM), a presidential poverty alleviation initiative, has directed that village local council chairpersons to get directly involved in the programme, away from a system where only the LC 2 chairman has held the monopoly of sieving wrongly incorporated individuals from accessing the funds.
In Gayaza parish, the Assistant Coordinator, Jovelyn Kaliisa was dismayed to establish that only 23 out of the 60 beneficiaries were youths, and disclosed that she would not dispatch money to any area without ensuring that it is going to the targeted individuals.

Kaliisa also discovered that beneficiaries had no recommenders which she said is a gross anomaly. Gayaza beneficiaries asked her to plead with President Museveni to top up the one million shillings given to each individual, arguing that their work plans exceed the sh1m.
The Assistant Coordinator advised them to stick to the regulations dictating that the money is used in projects located in the parishes from where they receive it.
“I am therefore forthwith halting further disbursement of PDM funds in Kasangati until I finalize scrutinizing all beneficiaries to ensure they are the right people”, she disclosed.
