NUP’s Kibalama Missing For 6 Years is Abroad, Says UPDF Spokesperson Kulayigye

It has been confirmed by the Secretary General of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) who is Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, that the party is not fielding a presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections.

Ssemujju confirmed that the PFF is in talks with the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) to come to terms and support a single candidate for the presidential bid.

On splitting from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), former founder Dr. Kizza Besigye floated the idea of forming the PFF with himself as the head of the Council of Eminent Persons. Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was appointed executive chairperson, while Besigye confirmed he will not stand as the president.

He however agreed to remain with the role of the chairman of the Council of Eminent Persons, the party’s highest advisory body.

Other members of the council include Garuga Musinguzi, Chapaa Karuhanga and Wafula Ogutu. Buikwe South MP Dr. Michael Lulume Bayigga was named Vice Chairperson in charge of Buganda Region.
