In total, 90 suspects were arrested during the coordinated operations and are currently being held in police custody pending prosecution.

Security agencies have intensified operations across the Kampala Metropolitan area, arresting at least 90 suspects in a renewed crackdown on criminal activity. The arrests come as part of the ongoing joint security operations targeting individuals suspected of involvement in robbery, narcotics trafficking, and theft.
According to the Racheal Kawala, the spokesperson for the Uganda Police Force in the Kampala Metropolitan Police area, the latest operations were intelligence-led and aimed at responding to rising public complaints about criminal gangs operating in several parts of the metropolitan region.
Part of the operation was conducted in Mukono District, where police recovered six motorcycles believed to have been used in robberies. Nine suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led raid carried out on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The raid took place in Seeta-Bajjo after residents reported a group of individuals who had allegedly been attacking people both during the day and at night. Intelligence later indicated that the suspects were hiding in an unfinished house in the area.

“Police swiftly swung into action after receiving the information and arrested six suspects from the hideout,” Kawala said in an interview.
Another operation was carried out in Mbalwa, where security officers targeted suspected narcotics dealers. Three suspects were reportedly arrested while processing opium into sticks, which police say were intended for sale to criminal elements.
In Katwe Division, security teams conducted operations along Salama Road, particularly in the Kisangani slums and surrounding neighborhoods. The exercise resulted in the arrest of 64 suspects believed to be involved in various criminal activities.
Meanwhile, officers attached to Central Police Station Kampala were deployed on March 4 around Mukwano Roundabout and the Punjani stretch despite heavy rains and severe traffic congestion.
Police say the deployment targeted criminals who exploit traffic jams to steal vehicle parts and snatch phones and bags from motorists and pedestrians.
In Entebbe, another operation conducted in Nakawuka led to the arrest of 14 additional suspects.
In total, 90 suspects were arrested during the coordinated operations and are currently being held in police custody pending prosecution.
Police say the latest arrests are part of broader efforts to curb rising criminality across the Kampala Metropolitan region, with more operations expected in the coming weeks.
