Police Arrest Man for Impersonating Police Commissioner to Solicit Money from Public

Naggalama Division Police in Mukono district are holding a suspect who has been impersonating as a Commissioner of Police to solicit money from the members of the public.

Police spokesperson, Rusoke Kituuma has identified the suspect as Kassim Byaruhanga whom he said has been impersonating as Commissioner of Police and an intelligence officer of the army.

Kituuma has said; “Naggalama Police on December 07, 2024 /12/2024 arrested Byaruhanga Kassim for impersonating as a Commissioner of Police and as an intelligence officer of the army.

On the 24th day of July 2024 the DPC Naggalama police division received a phone call from a person claiming to be a Commissioner of Police by the name Tumusiime and who told her that there was an auctioning exercise of motor vehicles at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

The following day, the purported commissioner asked the DPC to send eight hundred thousand shillings (Ugx 800,000/=) to a telephone number he claimed was for URA.”
