Police Clash with Angry Residents Protesting RDC’s Stay Despite Alleged Transfer

The Police have today afternoon fired teargas to disperse hundreds of angry residents who wanted to lynch a suspected cattle thief.
The suspect has been identified as Isaac Mudoba, suspected to have stolen three cows worth sh6m from the herd of one Yokosan Mulongo, a resident of Bunghumu South, Busolwe sub-county in Butaleja district.
Mulongo, reported his case at the police station of Busolwe on Thursday morning, and the DPC of Butaleja, Jackson Maumbe, swung into action immediately as he called upon the Tororo regional Police and Vegas, a Sniffer dog, controlled by Michael Bijuho was brought for action.

Vegas (police sniffer dog), in its search led the police into the house of Isaac Mudoba. The residents immediately wanted to burn the home, and kill whoever belongs to the household.

Meanwhile, 11, out of the 12 heads of cattle that were stolen in Bunghumu North, on Wednesday, were recovered alive. The 9 heads, according to Scovia Weere, one of the owners; were found in Kirewa, another, was found tied next to the slaughtering area of Mugulu-Busoko, and a calf, allegedly, returned on its own.

Importantly, Tom Hasahya, a suspect, apparently at Butaleja Police headquarters, is a watchman at Mugulu High school, yet Isaac Mudoba, still at large, used to work as a watchman at Mugulu High school. Mudoba, was arrested for similar offences but was released recently.
