Police in Ntungamo are holding three suspects in connection to the murder of an old woman.
According to police statement, the suspects’ arrest was guided by Yudah a police sniffer dog. One of the suspects have been only identified as Mercy, accused to have participated in the murder of her mother in-law identified as Naekeree Kedres.
Police revealed that upon arrest, Mercy immediately revealed three other unnamed accomplices and two of whom have been arrested, while the third is still on the run.
The body of Naekeree Kedress, a resident of Butare Ward, Kauhunga sub-county in Ntungamo District, was found hanging in front of her door and, according to an unnamed grandson with whom she was staying, two men grabbed and strangled her, and later hanged her body.
When the police sniffer dog Yudah was introduced to the scene of crime, it picked scent and tracked for about 1km and moved to the house of Mercy, the daughter in-law of the deceased who was subsequently arrested.
