Kyengera TC chairperson, Mathias Walukagga has joined his residents in helplessly lamenting over the situation which they say has prevailed for close to two months with some people having lost their lives at the hands of the attackers.

Residents of the villages of Buddo, Nakitokolo, Namagoma, Maya, Buddo and Kyambazzi all in Kyengera Town Council have finally lost confidence in police with regard to the much-hyped slogan of ‘Protecting Ugandans And Their Property’, and have now placed their matter before the Almighty God to take care of their lives.
The most recent of the over twenty people so far victimized by machete and paver hitmen include Sowedi Nsamba, a hawker of Namagoma-Busaale village who was attacked in the evening of September 26th and Abdul Malik Mutaawe, a shoe seller of Kyengera who was attacked on Independence Day at 9:00pm as he retired home.

The two said they have resigned on making reports at police wowing to the too many irrelevant questions put to them by policemen. “Their first question is ‘who attacked you?’, implying that if you have no one to report, they have no one to arrest so your report is as good as useless; Now, I was cut, my property was stolen and I was left wriggling in pain, how could I have recognized my assailants?” Nsamba confirmed.
However, KMP spokesperson Patrick Onyango said so far, six suspects have been arrested in connection to earlier attacks, although none has been arrested yet with regard to the Kyambazzi attacks, the fact notwithstanding that intensive investigations are underway.
Kyengera TC chairperson, Mathias Walukagga has joined his residents in helplessly lamenting over the situation which they say has prevailed for close to two months with some people having lost their lives at the hands of the attackers.

Walukagga said that the most disturbing fact is that as village councils end security meetings in village ’A’, the hitmen strike village ‘B’, adding, “My appeal is that police step up its operations and apply tactics they used in arresting the youth, Ivan Kubanja (23), a lorry driver who killed 26-year-old Judith Alupo, a bartender recently”.
Kyambazzi Defence Secretary, Robert Njawuzi said that after tasting the attacks in their own village, they can no longer stay asleep, and he appealed to Nsangi DPC Rogers Chebene to dispatch more patrol teams.
Victims testify:
Dennis Kazibwe, a resident of Namagoma UMEA has, since the attack, developed a stammer he never had, and is going through excruciating physical pain after being hit by paver hitmen. Kazibwe said he never recognized who hit him but simply felt something hard hitting his head and he fell into unconsciousness.

He regained consciousness in hospital but has since never fully recovered.
Abdul Malik Mutaawe was walking back home from his shoe business when he was hit from behind by people he never recognized. They stole his property including money and foodstuffs he had bought for his children. He spent a week in Lubaga hospital undergoing treatment.
Mutaawe applied the trick of feigning to be dead and after the thieves had left, he struggled back home but narrowly survived collapsing due to too much blood loss; he was however rushed to hospital.
Sowedi Nsamba, a hawker of Namagoma was attacked at 9:00pm on his way back home and like the others, he was hit from behind and hit by people he never recognized. Nsamba fell unconscious and he says it is his rescuers who narrated to him his ordeal.
He was hit on the head and the skull caved and although this has somewhat been addressed, his left ear has turned completely deaf, and in addition, he develops dizziness when he moves under strong sunshine. He lost a phone and sh13,000 to his attackers.
In Maya, after four separate attacks on people, residents are confined indoors by 7:00pm, and tension is high in the area. The four attacked residents include John Kakinda, a butcher who was attacked on the way as he delivered foodstuffs to his mother.
The attackers stole his property while he was taken to Lubaga Hospital where he was informed by medics that pieces of the crushed skull bones had got into his brain and he had to undergo an operation.

On Monday, three residents of Kyambazzi village including Frederick Ssebunnya (21), Emmanuel Mugisha (30), and another unidentified person were injured in similar incidents, and they are currently undergoing treatment in different hospitals.
Mugisha was returning home after watching a Liverpool-Man U football match and at around 10:00pm, a group of youths ambushed him and hit him with a hard object on the head, left him lying unconscious and fled without taking any of his belongings.
Various residents expressed the view that the objective of the attackers is getting more complicated to understand, adding that every night, there is a new village that is given a treat of the criminal acts. They variously opined that the situation calls for more concerted security efforts than mere police intervention.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, AIGP Mwesigwa Frank the Director Operations, held a meeting in Kyengera town council with the local leaders and residents to review recent crime trends in the locality and identify hotspots.
