She took matters to court seeking an order forcing Kateregga to continue providing for their children, and simultaneously, he filed an application for an order for their children to undergo a DNA test and results showed that one of the children was not biologically fathered by Prof. Kateregga.

Prof. Badru Kateregga is all smiles after last Friday’s court ruling by Makindye Magistrate Elisha Arinaitwe dismissing an earlier application by Jolly Shubaiha Irankunda, who sought an order banning Kateregga from ever stepping into his multi-million home located at Buziga in Kampala.

For a long time, Kateregga could not go to his home after his wife had locked him out on claims that he subjected her to mistreatment. But in his ruling, Magistrate Arinaitwe noted that a directive on the wealth of married people is determined in a situation of nullification of their marriage.

According to court, Irankunda did not adduce satisfactory evidence to back her claims of torture, and that it would be irrational for court to bar him from stepping into a home he built with his own money.

Through her lawyer Bonny Ocen, Irankunda had prayed court to provide her with security guards blocking her husband from ever coming near her, attempting to talk to her or their children, and stopping him from scolding her relatives.

This too was rejected by court on the grounds that she had not adduced enough evidence pinning Kateregga that he telephones her with threatening messages. She had testified that a person by the name of Kamya was the one who calls her on phone and threatens her with danger.

Kamya’s mobile phone number was tendered in court as an exhibit but with no evidence that either it belonged to Prof. Kateregga or that he had assigned Kamya to threaten Irankunda.

Court also trashed her claims that her husband had uttered to the media words calculated at demeaning her, and stated that he was simply expressing dissatisfaction with the manner in which police had handled his issues.

The couple entered matrimonial agreement in March 2013 but two years ago, cracks started developing in their marriage, and matters hit a climax when Kateregga abandoned his home accusing his wife of battering him.

She took matters to court seeking an order forcing Kateregga to continue providing for their children, and simultaneously, he filed an application for an order for their children to undergo a DNA test and results showed that one of the children was not biologically fathered by Prof. Kateregga.
