In a counter accusation, the defiant Ssegirinya’s widow blamed Mawanda and his cohorts for holding a sinister plot to hijack the deceased’s property, and that the goat selling statement is a baseless ploy fabricated to help them execute their evil plan.

Twahir Akandinda, the senior widow of former Kawempe North Member of Parliament (MP) the late Mohammed Ssegirinya, has maintained her defiance of the results of the DNA test results which put her son among the list of children not having been fathered by the late legislator.

Akandinda categorically refuted the DNA results and disclosed that she has engaged a lawyer to make out her son’s case, and maintained her refusal to surrender the deceased’s property in her control including the house she is currently occupying.

She was reacting to accusations levelled against her by the late Ssegirinya’s uncle Robert Mawanda Walugembe of Kanyanya in Kawempe, who claims that she has sold off the goats at the Nakifuma farm in Mukono district.

In a counter accusation, the defiant Ssegirinya’s widow blamed Mawanda and his cohorts for holding a sinister plot to hijack the deceased’s property, and that the goat selling statement is a baseless ploy fabricated to help them execute their evil plan.

“I am not budging even an inch from this house until justice for my son is realized; I do not accept the fake DNA results engineered by my enemies to get me off track”, she asserted.

Mawanda floated the idea of taking the children for the DNA test after realizing that some women were bent on hatching plans to grab Ssegirinya’s property.

He cited children including Ivan Bukenya, Alia Nagirinya, Shadia Nagirinya, Shifra Nagirinya and Sharifa Nagirinya, whom he said were continually referred to by the deceased before his death, and who were accepted by the DNA test.

He disclosed that the deceased attempted to sell off part of his estate including Nammere and Kalagi properties, citing possible wrangles within the family after his departure, and that this came to pass barely two weeks after his death.

Widows including Akandinda, Nalongo Joyce Nalule, Ssegirinnya’s mother and some other family members approached him (Mawanda) wishing to sell off the legislator’s car a TOYOTA DX registration number UAU 068T.

He added that Akandinda got a buyer offering sh7m while Nalongo Joy Nalule got one with a better price of sh11m.

“They were very harsh and uncompromising and so I gave them the car, and I do not know what transpired thereafter,” Mawanda said.

What others say: Fiona Namayanja: The widows with rejected children should concede that the deal has flopped, and so peacefully hand over the children to their biological fathers.

Steven Buyondo: These women should have a semblance of shame. Let them surrender Ssegirinya’s property to the rightful children.

Rashid Luwaga: True, free things are sweet but it is sometimes prudent to exercise restraint and sacrifice. Why do the women go to such lengths to fight where the naked truth is there for everybody to see?
