Mukono Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajat Fatuma Ndisaba has called for increased sensitization on the legal provisions protecting disabled children, citing gross abuse of their natural rights.
Ndisaba made the appeal while handing over Christmas packages, including wheelchairs and food items, to 250 disabled children from various sub-counties in Mukono district.
The donation, provided by US-based Love Without Boundaries organization, aims to improve the lives of disabled children and their families.

Ndisaba warned against masqueraders seeking to exploit disabled people’s provisions and condemned fathers who abandon their disabled children, emphasizing that both parents, a mother and a father are responsible for their care.

Mukono Municipality male councillor for the Disabled, Ramadhan Lubowa, thanked the organization for their reliable support, saying its now five years ever since they started giving a hand to the disabled children in Mukono.

Beneficiaries, including 10-year-old Emmanuella Amusugut, expressed gratitude for the support, which has simplified their lives and education.
However, parents highlighted challenges faced by disabled children, including refusal of enrollment in schools which denies the children their right to education.
According to councillor Lubowa, Love Without Boundaries has also assisted disabled children with medical treatment, including those with cardiac problems whose surgery costs in India are met by the organisation.
