According to residents, stray dogs have become a menace and expressed fear that unless authorities step in to save the situation, more people especially children are bound to fall victims.

Tragedy befell Jane Nakibirango (50), of Mwererwe village, Gombe Division in Wakiso district, when a pack of stray dogs attacked her at her home, fiercely bit her leading to her death as she was being taken to Buwambo Heath Centre.

Nakibirango had just returned from a shop to buy provisions when a group of stray dogs attacked her, pounced on her and began biting her all over the body, a passerby who witnessed the incident intervened and chased away the dogs but not before inflicting very grievous wounds all over her.

According to residents, stray dogs have become a menace and expressed fear that unless authorities step in to save the situation, more people especially children are bound to fall victims.

Gombe Division chairperson, Ssalongo Kamya Haruna attributed the danger to dog owners who do not lock them up during the day.

The area councillor, Noah Kasumba said people are now scared of having free movements fearing they may be confronted with these dogs. They prayed to Nansana Municipality leaders to kill off these dogs.
