A senior Police officer, SP Begira Avido attached to Human Resource department at Wamala Police Region was on Wednesday arraigned before the Makindye Magistrate’s court over theft.
The State House Anti-corruption Unit together with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Crime Investigations Department charged Begira with theft.
He was remanded till the 19th June, 2025. It is alleged that on February 10, 2023, at Kanaaba Zone in Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso District, using impunity, the accused stole building materials, including iron sheets, poles, and bags of cement, valued at approximately sh17m from a one Kato Bumali.
SP Begira had on several occasions been summoned by his superiors to address these allegations against him, but refused to turn up, which led to his arrest.
