Fear gripped the residents of Lwaba Village in Bugiri district following a horrible road accident which claimed the lives of 12 people and left six injured.
The accident is said to have happened on Sunday night after a head-on collision between a commuter taxi and a trailer.
The accident which occurred along the Jinja–Malaba Highway, was reportedly caused by a reckless motorcycle overtaking attempt. Nine died on the spot whereas three others, including the boda boda rider and a passenger, later succumbed.
Police have launched investigations, urging caution on the road users. The casualties were taken to Bugiri Hospital for treatment whereas the bodies were also conveyed to Bugiri Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
