A Star Sky Airlines passenger plane carrying 55 people crashed shortly after takeoff from Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, Somalia, on Tuesday.

The flight was headed to Guri’eel in Galgaduud when it encountered technical difficulties, prompting an emergency landing attempt on the shoreline.

Eyewitnesses reported smoke rising from the crash site, but authorities confirmed all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.

The Somali Civil Aviation Authority is investigating the incident, with details on injuries and damage pending.
