Fear has gripped residents of Kyalulangira village in Rakai district following a horrific incident which has involved a man who on Thursday morning hacked seven residents, killing a five-year-old boy and injuring the others.
Twaha Kasirye, the Southern Region Police Spokesperson has identified the suspect as John Kasinda, a resident of Kitayiza village, in Rakai district.
“We are investigating circumstances under which Kasinda evaded the home of Rashid Kabugo, horribly hacked his wife and cut to death a five-year-old boy, Gabriel Tumuheki,” Kasirye said.
He added that Kasinda continued and also hacked other four village members until when the residents turned against him and beat him to death.
The rest of the injured residents, Kasirye reports that they were rushed to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital while in critical conditions.
“As police, we condemn the acts of mob justice. We always urge the residents to arrest such culprits and hand them over to police to investigate and prosecute them,” he said.
