In keeping with its long-standing religious tradition, St. Balikuddembe Senior Secondary School Kisoga in Mukono district held a thanksgiving Mass to express gratitude for its excellent performance in last year’s Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

The headmistress, Lydia Lukwago Kagoya, said the school registered remarkable results, with the top three candidates each scoring 7As. Several other students earned 6 and 5 As. In total, the school recorded 465 As and 551 Bs, with all candidates passing in results one.

“We are happy that our students have now acclimatized to the new curriculum,” Kagoya said. “To complement this modern approach, we have developed digital classes, and the learners now understand science subjects much better.”

The Director of Studies, Charles Kato Nsubuga, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, particularly parents, for entrusting the school with their children. Kato emphasized that nurturing students’ talents does not interfere with academic performance.

“Developing talents does not encroach on the students’ ability to excel academically,” he said, adding that the school has produced several musicians who are making a mark in the entertainment industry, including Rema Namakula, Hellena Nanjego, May Ruth and Martin Nkoyoyo a.k.a Yoyo, among others.

Delivering his homily, the school chaplain, Fr. John Kato, thanked the candidates for maintaining the school’s strong academic reputation. Fr. Kato urged continuing and new students to embrace the institution’s modern teaching approaches and uphold discipline.
