Before her death, Nabuyungo who has been in and out of hospital several times, recommended Jane Frances Namuli as a caretaker school head pending confirmation or assignment of a substantive replacement.

The sombre mood that engulfed the community of St. Joseph’s Naggalama Mixed Primary School since last Tuesday when their head teacher Mary Josephine Nabuyungo died, today culminated into the second of four masses organized before her send off.
Nabuyungo, who has been on and off for the last over one month, passed on on Tuesday at St. Francis Naggalama Hospital where she had been hospitalized for a relatively long period.
Among the numerous portfolios she has held in addition to being a teacher for 36 years, include Secretary for Lugazi Catholic Diocese, the Assistant Commissioner for the Girl Guides Association, chairperson of Mukono Teachers SACCO, a key figure in functionalization of Mukono chapter of UNATU, and others.

Before her death, Nabuyungo who has been in and out of hospital several times, recommended Jane Frances Namuli as a caretaker school head pending confirmation or assignment of a substantive replacement.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Albert Gavamukulya of Naggalama parish implored Christians to desist from looking sadly at the day God will call them, and instead happily and hopefully wait for it, because he noted, God gives mankind ample time to prepare for that day.
He called on them to instill in children the spirit of preparing for their death by clearing their faith with God and always yearning to fulfil their earthly obligations while still alive. Fr. Gavamukulya also urged communities to maintain the spirit of working together which the late Nabuyungo cherished.

The caretaker head teacher Jane Frances Namuli who, like many other mourners spoke in tears, asked mourners to pray for her so that she can work to standards of her predecessor who she noted had earned herself the synonym of ‘Super Lady’ for her excellent performance in whatever she chose to do.
The school Head Prefect, Lynda Nakato broke down midway her speech, but managed to convey the message of speaking highly of her late headteacher who she said was a wonderful mother who inspired her to join the Girl Guides fraternity where she learned the virtues of being kind, loving and courteous.
Nakifuma-Naggalama Town Council Inspector of Schools Irene Cherop who represented the district local government, praised the late Nabuyungo’s education and mentorship virtues, noting that although she (Cherop) was by hierarchy supposed to be the deceased’s senior, the late Nabuyungo was always volunteering to guide her on how to go about many issues in the discharge of official duties.

She condoled teachers and especially candidates, and urged them to strive to learn with the loss of a person who had practically turned into more than a boss and become part of their own biological family members.
The school PTA chairperson, Specioza Bwanone implored everyone to pray for their P7 candidates to come to terms with the tragic death so as to avoid being derailed mentally while writing their examinations falling soon.
