Prosecuting, Paul Byamukama prayed court to hand Madubarah a deterrent sentence of either seven years imprisonment or a fine of sh15m.
Juma Musuuza, also known as Madubarah, a shoe hawker and activist of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has been jailed for 12 months by Entebbe Grade I Magistrate Edgar Tibayeita.
Madubarah received his sentence after a conviction on charges of circulating dangerous social media messages about President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, with the intention of discrediting and annoying them.

He was convicted on six counts pinning him for having committed the offence last year in Wakiso district on his Tik Tok handle when he posted that “If Museveni hands power to his drunken son, the nation would perish in two days; Ugandans, let us pray for our nation and for ourselves”.
Court also learned that through the same media on the same month, Madubarah circulated a recording purporting that “If Muhoozi inherits power from his father, the nation would perish in two days given his drinking habits, and whoever comes out to complaint will either be killed or arrested”.
Court says that in a similarly demeaning manner, Madubarah stated that Speaker Among has squandered tax payers’ money to construct a mansion larger than State House, in addition to spending lavishly in buying bleaching complexions”.
Prosecuting, Paul Byamukama prayed court to hand Madubarah a deterrent sentence of either seven years imprisonment or a fine of sh15m.

Magistrate Tibayeita ruled that prosecution had failed to adduce incriminating evidence showing that Madubarah was a habitual law breaker, and so handed him a light sentence of 12 months on each of the six counts, and clarified that the sentences on all counts will run concurrently.
According to the judgement, the ten months Madubarah has spent on remand are deducted from the 12-month sentence, implying that he will continue in incarceration for two more months to complete the jail term.
Magistrate Tibayeita therefore committed Madubarah to Kigo prison to serve the sentence.
