The State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and the Crime Investigations Department have today arraigned before the Butambala Magistrates Court the Town Clerk of Gombe Town Council in Butambala district, Idris Walugembe. Walugembe has been charged with forgery.
The accused has pleaded guilty to the charges, and has been remanded until 06/08/2025 when the magistrate is expected to serve him a sentence.
Court have heard that Walugembe, while acting as the secretary for Butambala District Service Commission in 2022, along with others still at large, altered official job application records of the service commission and smuggled in an applicant for the position of Inspector of Schools, a one Abbas Musoke, who was not eligible for shortlisting.
Walugembe was subsequently suspended from his duties as Secretary, District Service Commission for sabotaging the activities of the previous District Service Commission including leaking official Minutes of the DSC on social media.
