Masaka police is holding two suspects in connection to abduction, rape and murder of an S5 student of St. Mary’s S.S at Ssanje in Kyotera recently.
The rotting body of Winnie Namuli Kirabo (20), was on 13th July 2025 found after four days in an eucalyptus forest in Buwunga, Masaka district by a herdsman who was grazing cattle.
She was last seen alive when she boarded a vehicle from Ssamba village in Kyotera, headed for Kijjabwemi in Masaka, to pick school fees from her elder sister Daisy Nakigudde.
The deceased is the daughter of Charles Lukwago and Deziranta Nakanwagi of Ssamba-Kisaka village, Mayanja parish in Kakuuto sub-county, Kyotera district.
Namuli boarded a private car and it is suspected that the occupants turned against her and, using her mobile phone, started demanding money from her parents to secure her release. They began by asking for one million shillings and went on increasing the ransom money to sh4m. On failure to receive the money, they killed her.
Police working with the Flying Squad conducted an investigation basing on numbers that had been used in demanding for money, and they zeroed on Frank Sebuuma of Ssungain Bukakata sub-county, Masaka district and Jamiru Muwanga of Kizibira zone in Nyendo-Mukungwe division.
Masaka police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye confirmed their arrest and disclosed that they had been transferred to Kasaali prison in Kyotera where they are alleged to have committed the offence, from where they will be arraigned in court on 20 August 2025.
