The two are members of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Out of the 74 nominated candidates, Mugazi said five are vying for Mukono Municipality Mayorship.
They include; Robert Peter Kabanda, the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer, Micdadi Mulimira, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Erisa Mukasa Nkoyoyo, (independent), Mathew Mutyaba (independent) and Henry Ssenyonjo (independent).
Mugazi said that today, on September 11th – 25th, they have started nominating sub-county, Town Council and division chairpersons together with their councillors.
“We have three nomination centres, here at Mukono EC headquarters where we are to handle candidates from Mukono North and Mukono South constituencies, at Nakifuma Ssaza headquarters, where the nomination of all the six sub-counties under Nakifuma county are to be handled from. For candidates coming from Goma and Mukono Central Division, they are going to be worked upon from Mukono Community Centre,” he said.
In an interview, Lubowa said that his leadership for the last two terms has been so fruitful to his constituency, saying it’s the reason they decided to back him to stand unopposed.
