Two out of the four abducted National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Election Committee members have been dumped at SIU Kireka and later released.

According to the NUP principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, after exposing the abductors and the much pressure exerted on them from the public, today’s night, the two female election committee members were driven from Mbuya (CMI/DIS) and dumped them at SIU Kireka, from where they were released.

Kyagulanyi has identified the officials as, Mercy Walukamba and Rahma Juma.

Kyagulanyi has posted the information on his X handle overnight and it reads as follows;

“After exposing the criminals and the sustained pressure from all of you, this night, they drove @NUP_Ug’s Election Management officials Mercy Walukamba and Rahma Juma from Mbuya (CMI/DIS) and dumped them at SIU Kireka, from where they were released! They have told us how they were subjected to all manner of threats and intimidation and subjected to interrogation about very ridiculous things but they are of strong spirits. Let’s keep the pressure on UNTIL ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS ARE OUT and UNTIL UGANDA IS FREE.”

At least two other NUP election officials and the party mobilization head, Fred Nyanza Ssentamu are still missing.

Kyagulanyi said yesterday that the vehicle in which their election officials were travelling in had a tracker, something which was unknown to the abductors.

He therefore added that they had tracked the vehicle and found it parked at Mbuya hill allegedly in CMI base.

They were abducted from Lungala village in Mpigi district on their way from Masala to attend a burial of one of their fellow NUP election official.
