When contacted for a comment, some of the polling officers from some of the affected polling stations said they had contacted their bosses to direct them on the way forward.
Voting and tallying exercises in some Mukono polling stations have been disrupted by hooded goons in drone vehicles, who beat up voters and destroyed election materials.
The incidents have been greatly reported in some parts of Kasawo Town Council, Kasawo rural sub-county, Goma Division and Nakifuma-Naggalama Town Council in Mukono district.
The goons have been alleged to be among the NRM camp headed by Mukono district NRM chairperson, Haji Haruna Ssemakula.

The same group of goons have been beating up people, destroying election materials and engaging in ballot staffing in the past round of elections but they have never been prosecuted.
Moving in a group of over 20 people, the goons timed when it had clocked 4:00pm at the closure of the election exercise and started making rounds destroying ballot boxes and beating up voters who tried to confront them.
James Mulindwa, the Kasawo LC3 chairperson accused Haji Ssemakul to be behind this kind of mess.
“They have been coming with pre-ticked ballot papers, kick the ballot boxes and break them, followed by dumping their pre-ticked ballots, leaving them mixed with the ones they found in the ballot boxes,” Mulindwa said adding, he is to dispute the results given the recorded mess orchestrated by the NRM camp.

Efforts to secure a comment from Haji Ssemakula have been fruitful as he couldn’t be traced either on his known phone numbers or physically getting him to record his side of the story.
When contacted for a comment, some of the polling officers from some of the affected polling stations said they had contacted their bosses to direct them on the way forward.
At some stations, the angry voters turned rowdy and set on fire the mixed-up ballot papers with the pre-ticked ones delivered by the goons.
One of the eyewitnesses told our reporter that police officers who were moving on a patrol were coming after the goons had left and doing nothing.

Following the recent messes reflected in the previous elections including turning down winners and declaring losers as victors which was witnessed during the district chairmanship election and their councilors, today’s election exercise has registered one of the lowest voter turn-ups ever.
At some polling centers, they spent the full day without even registering 100 voters which was not the case during the previous election exercises, more so the presidential and parliamentary elections.
