The Prime Minister of Uganda, Robina Nabbanja has appealed to Ugandans to ensure that they vote for people who will be in position to lobby for development projects from government and other development partners.
Nabbanja said it’s not of any use for the people to vote for a leader who has no impact on ground but just because he or she is in opposition.
She was on Friday meeting the local people and all National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers from Busiro South constituency, Entebbe Municipality and Makindye-Ssabagabo in Wakiso district, from the meeting held at Kitende Senior School in Kitende-Kajjansi-Bwebajja.

Nabbanja said that as the leader of the government business and her team, they decided to sum up the term by taking rounds in different districts, listening to the local people on how they have benefitted from the government projects.
The locals highlighted a number of things which are still lacking including the corruption in most of the government offices saying it’s one of the leading challenges affecting the NRM government.
“Inefficiency of drugs in government health facilities was among the highlighted challenges, school heads who are asking for exorbitant fees from learners yet they are government schools, UEDCL officials who are disconnecting people from power and ask for a lot of money as reconnection fees, among other issues were reported.

The Prime Minister said that as the NRM government is concluding this term of office, they are making assessments based on the previous manifesto to know where they have scored highly and less.
“Considering the number of roads constructed, schools built, new water and electricity connections, modern markets commissioned and others under construction, we have scored over 85 percent of the promises made in our manifesto,” she said adding;
“We should not forget the thousands of Ugandans who have benefitted from the emyooga and Parish Development Model (PDM), many of those transformed their financial statuses just because of PDM, we need to highlight these successes before you.”

The National Coordinator of the Parish Development Model (PDM), Dennis Ssozi Galabuzi told the locals that they have all the mandate to chase away the PDM SACCO leaders who are extorting money from them in order to enable them to benefit from the program.
He also noted that each PDM SACCO committee has a life-span of one year, whereby at the end of the year, members are supposed to convene an annual general meeting and either re-elect the leaders if they made an impact or get new ones.
