Alupo, who secured 84,994 votes (88.8%) in the NRM primaries, thanked her supporters and pledged to work with Anuken for the district’s development.

The Vice President, Rtd. Maj. Jessica Rose Alupo Epel has been declared unopposed as the Woman Member of Parliament for Katakwi District, following the withdrawal of her only challenger, Angella Anuken, an independent candidate.
Anuken submitted a formal withdrawal letter to the Katakwi District Returning Officer on December 23, 2025, citing Section 36(1) of the Parliamentary Elections Act.
Alupo, who secured 84,994 votes (88.8%) in the NRM primaries, thanked her supporters and pledged to work with Anuken for the district’s development.

She emphasized unity and peaceful elections, urging voters to support the NRM government and participate in wealth-creation programs.
NRM officials praised Anuken’s decision, calling it “mature and patriotic”. Residents welcomed the development, hoping for accelerated progress in Katakwi District, which has never had an unopposed MP since its establishment in 1977.
