Police in Nateete have arrested a 34-year-old woman in connection with the alleged torture of a 10-year-old boy in Wakiso District.

Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson has identified the suspect as Nankunda Esther, a resident of Kanaala Zone in Mutundwe Parish, Bunamwaya Division, is currently in custody as investigations continue.

According to Kawala, the victim is a Primary Four pupil who had been placed under the care of the suspect by her brother.

Preliminary findings indicate that on Eid Day, March 20, 2026, at around 5:00 p.m., the suspect allegedly tortured the child by burning his hands with a heated polythene bag. She reportedly accused the boy of stealing sh100,000.

“The child has since been rescued and taken for medical examination, while the suspect remains in detention pending court proceedings,” she said.

Police have strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a serious act of child abuse, and warned that such offenses will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Authorities have urged members of the public to report all cases of child abuse to ensure the safety and protection of children in their communities.
