The Police in different areas of Kampala and the Metropolitan areas are having in custody 84 drivers who were last night arrested in the intensified operation intended to curb the drunk driving habit and enhance road safety.
Michael Kananura, the spokesperson of the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety says a coordinated operation last night led to the arrest of 84 suspects across six police stations.
Kananura said at Katwe, they nabbed 18 suspects, Jinja Road 19, Kawempe 12, Nansana 12, Old Kampala 14 and CPS 09.

He added; “We strongly urge all drivers to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol. This behavior poses a serious risk to all road users and is among the leading causes of road traffic crashes.”
