Angry, Frustrated NRM Cadre Sets Self on Fire at Parliament

Security officers at the Parliament of Uganda were on Wednesday taken by surprise as a National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre set himself on fire.

The angry and frustrated young NRM supporter has been identified as Benjamin Agaba. He set himself ablaze near the main entrance to the Parliament of Uganda.

Agaba alleges that his property was vandalized by National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters, leaving his father homeless due to their political affiliation.

He stated that he had sought help at the party offices for a year without any assistance, hence attempting to claim his own life by arson.

The victim has been putting on yellow trousers.

Police officers at the scene quickly intervened, and the victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

By press time, police had not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
