Nalukoola’s victory has been today published in the Uganda Gazette Vol. CXVIII No. 24 under the Parliamentary Elections Act Cap 177 Sec. 781.

After a silence of over two weeks since national Unity Platform’s (NUP) Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola won the Kawempe North hot contested parliamentary by-elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) has finally succumbed to demands by NUP supporters to have their candidate’s victory gazetted, to pave way for his swearing in.

Nalukoola’s victory has been today published in the Uganda Gazette Vol. CXVIII No. 24 under the Parliamentary Elections Act Cap 177 Sec. 781. The Publication of Results of the Parliamentary By-Elections Conducted in Kawempe Division North Kampala City officially declared Nalukoola as the winner in the recently conducted Kawempe North by-elections.

Nalukoola won by a wide margin the other 9 contestants, after polling 17,764 votes, with his closest rival, Faridah Nambi of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) who collected 8,593.

The implication is that any time now Nalukoola is slated to swear in as the next member of parliament for Kawempe North, replacing fallen legislator Mohammed Segirinnya who passed on earlier this year.

Kyaggwe ran a story today indicating that Nalukoola, accompanied by NUP Secretary General David Lewsi Rubongoya and NUP lawyer George Musisi, this morning went to the EC seeking an explanation over delayed swearing in of the MP-elect since his victory.
