Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahara has ordered the interdiction of 29 officials from Kisoro District and Kisoro Municipality over allegations of corruption, nepotism, abuse of office and mismanagement of public funds.

The affected officials include 25 from the district local government and four from the municipality. They are expected to step aside to allow the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and other investigative agencies to probe the allegations.

The directive followed Balaam’s anti-corruption tour of Kisoro, during which he raised concerns over the alleged misuse of public resources, poor implementation of government projects and irregularities in recruitment.
