Three of late Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya have joined forces to confront their mother in-law Justine Nakajumba, and dragged Busiro East MP Medard Lubega Sseggona for allegedly conniving with her to deny them access to their late husband’s property.

The three are Mariam Nakabuye (34), a resident of Kigoogwa, Joyce Nalule (32), a resident of Gombe Division in Matugga and Fatumah Nanfuka (35), alias ‘Maama Nagirinya’, of Kasangati in Wakiso district.

Without mentioning individuals, the three also attacked the deceased’s friends who pledged to provide care for the bereaved children, but have since gone silent. Speaking from the deceased’s Matugga home, the three narrated how they are suffering with providing for Ssegirinya’s children despite the sizable wealth he left.

Nakabuye pointed an accusing finger at unnamed individuals currently in control of the deceased’s estate, saying that when they (widows) make demands for assistance for the children, they are informed that the late legislator was heavily indebted by the time of his death. She singled out rental houses at Kasangati which have since been taken over to allegedly settle his debts.

“He had procured an ambulance but it is currently parked at MP Sseggona’s home and we are pushing to have it put to the right use for which our husband bought it,” she added.

Another widow, Nanfuka is not pleased with the mother-in-law Nakajumba for saying that at the moment, nothing can be given to the three because she alleges, there are over another ten of Ssegirinya’s children abroad who are yet unaccounted for, allegations the three vehemently deny as lies.

Nanfuka added that before burial, all children whose mothers claim they produced with the deceased legislator had DNA tests taken with no results having ever been produced.

The third widow Nalule said that parliament promised to give them some money which has never been received. She however expressed thanks to the parliament speaker Anita Among for having honoured her pledge of providing school fees for her daughter Nagirinya.

Contacted, MP Sseggona blamed the three widows for not appreciating what he had done for them since their husband’s death, adding that in case, they are not legally married to Ssegirinya.

He said that they sat with family members and selected people to administer the late Ssegirnya’s estate, the process he added, is still ongoing.

He said the MP died intestate and that the process to formalise everything with the Administrator General is ongoing; he added that it was agreed that all Ssegirinya’s children undergo a DNA test which he noted is still in the process.

About the ambulance, Sseggona explained that he has no issues with it and that if they wish, it could be taken, because it was parked at his place to save it from certain people who wanted to sell it off. Sseggona said he is not responsible for following the money promised by parliament.

Ssegirinya’s mother Nakajumba switched off the phone on realising that it was the media wishing to talk to her.
