Dismissed Magistrate, High Court Advocate on Corruption Charges

Following a joint investigation by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), the Police CID Department and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), a High Court advocate, Achileo Migisha, was arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court and charged with forgery, theft, and conspiracy to defraud.

His other accomplices still at large include dismissed Chief Magistrate Cissy Mudhasi and others, and he was remanded to prison till June 17, 2025.

He along with his accomplices, are said to have committed the crime against the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC), a body responsible for the regulation of the nursing profession in Uganda.

They were purportedly contracted by UNMC to develop a software and database application for which the Council failed to pay, resulting in a fictitious court process that ended in an irregularly issued garnishee order, on whose strength they attached the Council’s account from which they stole this money.

Migisha was remanded while police continue to look for his accomplices.
