Vote hunting campaigns ahead of the 2026 general elections for presidential, parliamentary and lower local government elective positions for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the four districts of Mukono, Buvuma, Buikwe and Kayunga have been kick started with launching of the Greater Mukono Resistance Task Force, at a grand occasion at the Summer Gardens in Mukono Municipality.
The launching was executed by the Assistant Commissioner for Monitoring at the National Patriotic Corps (NPC) Secretariat, Dr. Tibamwenda Nabirye who represented the NPC Commissioner and Permanent Secretary in charge of Youth Affairs in the President’s Office Hellen Seku, and was sandwiched with the traditional NRA bush war morale raising songs and cultural dances characterized by among others, the famous ‘kadodi’ (Bamasaba circumcision songs).

Dr. Tibamwenda implored them not to relax the tempo they began the campaign with at the launch, but to keep the candle burning so as to be able to tame the rampaging opposition counterparts, and to sink the message down to the grassroots.
Responding to the outcry of financial neglect of the campaigners by the top echelons sounded by the task force chairman John Ntale, Dr. Tibamwenda disclosed that Commissioner Seku had extended a sh10m helping hand, while party chairman Presidential Museveni had invited Ntale for a one-on-one interaction to identify modalities of deeper assistance to the task force members.

Zalwango Madinah, an official of the NPC Secretariat was sad to note that the President had been informed that many PDM beneficiaries do not receive their money, and that he has promised to personally intervene and address the anomaly.
Zalwango noted that the President is impressed by the timely beginning of community mobilization in Greater Mukono, and pointed out that it would be worthwhile for them to hold a meeting with them so that he gets acquainted with his friends.
In his address, Greater Mukono Resistance Task Force chairman, John Ntale noted that he has instilled among his members the spirit of going out in full force to mobilise voters, adding that when it comes to hunting for President Museveni’s votes, no authority no matter the stature, can stop them from executing their duty.

He appealed to the NPC Secretariat to give value to the task force by extending facilitation for issues like transport and other amenities to simplify their work. “I am tired of using these people on empty stomachs and at the end of the day sending them away without even money for their transport”, Ntale noted.
Mukono LC V Chairmanship flag bearer Francis Mukoome Lukooya was happy to report that President Museveni has re-instituted the old comradeship with the fishing folk by donating sh1bn to each fisheries SACCO in the region, and loosening fishing conditions, noting that absence of this led to poor performance in the 2021 elections which yielded a meagre 5%.
