The deaths of Jayden and Tamale have left colleagues, friends and members of the public mourning two media personalities who had made their mark in Uganda’s media and social media spaces.
Uganda’s media fraternity is mourning the death of two prominent media personalities, TikToker Timothy Kayanja, popularly known as Jayden, and Bukedde TV reporter David Tamale.
Jayden died in India, where he had travelled for a bone marrow transplant after battling severe sickle cell disease.
The TikToker, who gained popularity through his social media content, had attracted a large following with his videos and became known for his resilience in the face of his long illness.
His death has sparked an outpouring of grief from his followers, friends and public figures in Uganda and beyond.
National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya described Jayden as a young man who inspired many people through his content.
“Too bad to learn about Jayden’s passing. A young man who brought laughter, hope, and light into our lives through his content. He fought a brave, long fight with incredible strength and resilience. Rest well, champion,” Rubongoya said.
Meanwhile, Bukedde TV reporter David Tamale has also died after battling an illness that had kept him away from work for some time.
Tamale was a prominent reporter in Kampala and was also known for his coverage of political activities.
He worked closely with NUP principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu during the recent presidential campaigns, covering several of the party’s activities.

Arrangements are underway to repatriate Jayden’s body from India to Uganda, where he is expected to be accorded a decent burial.
