Five Habitual Robbers Arrested in Mukono

The Police in Mukono district are holding five habitual robbers following a significant progress in addressing the rampant robberies in the Mukono region.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango has identified the suspects as; Batambuze David (32), a driver at Bunamwaya taxi stage, Mulira Ronald (30), a resident of Natete, Serukenya Abdul (40), residing from Nyenje ward in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality, Ssemanda Shafiq (28), a resident of Kibiri zone in Busabala, Makindye-Sabagabo and Ainambabazi Tasha (20), a bar attendant at Namasuba.

Onyango said that their arrest followed an intelligence-led operation utilizing CCTV camera footage from Mukono Central Police Station.

“The suspects were arrested in a Toyota Hiace, registration number UBJ 343H, which was impounded,” said Onyango adding that, “Upon arrest, police also recovered seven mobile phones which were exhibited as evidence.

However, Onyango said that four other suspects managed to escape, and they include; Tifu, the driver, Caros, Ashiraf and Ibra.

The police are still investigating to apprehend the remaining suspects and other individuals linked to the robberies. This operation is part of a broader effort to combat crime in the region.
