Migadde who was also in attendance welcomed Ddungu’s decision to back him in the forthcoming general campaigns in order to enable NRM retain the seat.

Adrian Wasswa Ddungu, the Buvuma constituency parliamentary NRM flag loser has refuted the allegations that he is running as an independent in the incoming 2026 general elections.
Ddungu said that as a royal member of the NRM party he is entitled to support the party flag bearer.
The Buvuma district chairperson, Ddungu lost the party flag to the incumbent, Robert Migadde Ndugwa, who is the current Buganda Parliamentary caucus chairperson.

He however filed a petition to the NRM elections tribunal challenging Migadde’s victory citing a number of election anomalies. Unfortunately, the tribunal passed the ruling in favour of the respondent. Since then, different people have been speculating that Ddungu is intending to stand on an independent bid, something he outrightly refuted.
“As per the voters’ choice, I am ready to back Hon. Migadde. In my history, I have never stood as an independent. I am now going to concentrate on my garden work until 2031 when I will come out with the way forward,” he said.
He made the revelation on Thursday at the district headquarters during the handover of 15 maize threshers to different farmer groups.

Migadde who was also in attendance welcomed Ddungu’s decision to back him in the forthcoming general campaigns in order to enable NRM retain the seat.
“I am happy to stand near the chairman today; it had taken quite a long time when we had not met each other. It’s indeed a good gesture which the public should take and learn that politics is not a do or die thing. After the game is concluded, people should keep the relationships, friendships and move on,” he said.
