Nalwanga Edisa of Ppaapaati cell in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality, a self-declared supporter of Kyagulanyi and the NUP, blamed his party leadership for always looking at the negatives and failing to see anything good from government.

Public opinion is rife that after the Electoral Commission’s gesture to dish out sh9.8bn to political parties that are signatory to the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD), the National Unity Platform (NUP) seems to have developed a change of heart and made a U-turn by applying to be allowed to sign as an IPOD member, something the party had earlier objected.
NUP has been holding an adamant stand about the IPOD, an alliance of political parties with representation in parliament. However, in a 7th October 2025 letter from the NUP Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya to IPOD leaders, the party asked to be allowed to append their signature to IPOD membership.

Rubongoya reasoned in his letter that since NUP subscribes to the National Consultative Forum, it is incumbent upon them to be IPOD members, the fact notwithstanding that NUP filed a constitutional court case querying amendments in the law governing political parties.
Ssebwami Mukwenda, a resident of Kibwa zone in Bwaise blamed the NUP for lacking the fair sightedness which he said made them unable to realize that the EC would honour the obligation to fund political parties at this period.

Nalwanga Edisa of Ppaapaati cell in Goma Division, Mukono Municipality, a self-declared supporter of Kyagulanyi and the NUP, blamed his party leadership for always looking at the negatives and failing to see anything good from government.
“In my party, we are always busy looking for the earliest opportunity to throw mud at government, and in effect fail to realize the good things government has to offer; I think the egoistic tendencies which characterized the issuance of party cards continue to haunt us,” she said.
