Two people, a mother and her daughter on Saturday night died electrocuted following an illegal power connection.

Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, identified the deceased as Edith Zawedde (38) and her one and a half years-old-baby, Abigail Nalubega Muwanguzi.

Rusoke said the incident happened at Kikondo B village in Nsambya sub-county in Kyankwanzi district, at 11:00pm.

He said police and homicide detectives responded promptly, registering the case after visiting the scene.

“Police findings revealed the mother and daughter were found lying on the floor beside a bed, with an electric flat iron between them,” he said.

Rusoke added that it is highly suspected that there was an illegal power connection in the house and urged the public to always use certified electricians for electrical installations.

He also disclosed that illegal power connections is an illegal act punishable by law.
