Maama Maria Prean, the founder of Vision for Africa, a charitable organisation based in Mukono District, has died.
Her death was announced by popular Ugandan musician and presidential advisor Edrisa Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, who paid tribute to her, describing her as a motherly figure who profoundly influenced his life and that of many other people.
In an emotional message, Kenzo said Prean was more than a mother, describing her as an angel in human form whose kindness and work had transformed many lives.
“My dear Mama Maria, you were more than a mother, an angel in human form that touched, changed and impacted many lives but mine the most,” Kenzo wrote.

He expressed gratitude for the lessons she taught him and the good deeds he witnessed her perform, saying he would forever cherish the memories they shared.
“I don’t know how to thank you or say how grateful I am for all the great things I saw you do, the ones you taught me,” he added.
Kenzo also credited Prean with helping him appreciate Uganda’s blessings and thanked her for the love she showed to people.
“Thank you for showing us how blessed we are as a country and thank you for loving us so much,” he said, before concluding his tribute with the words: “REST IN HEAVEN My God sent Angel.”
Prean founded Vision for Africa, an organisation based in Mukono that has supported vulnerable children and communities through education, child care and other social welfare initiatives.
Her death marks the loss of a prominent figure in charitable work, particularly in efforts to improve the welfare and future of disadvantaged children.
Further details surrounding her death, including the cause and burial arrangements, were not immediately available.
