According to the headteacher’s report, while the first two disappear to their charcoal burning business, the third one spends the time in bars, and is said to have been dead drunk for three weeks.

Buvuma Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Issa Mbooge has directed initiation of disciplinary action against three teachers of Kyanja Primary School in Bwema sub-county for absconding duty and drunkenness.

Mbooge said that for the moment, he directed the suspension of salary payment for the suspected teachers with effect from the month of November 2025, in addition to summoning them before the Rewards and Sanctions Committee to offer an explanation.

The CAO’s action was prompted by a letter to him from the school headteacher, Dauda Kitenda dated 13th November 2025, in which he reported to him that three teachers namely Ithungu Everline, Muceera Ronald and Kwooba David, whom he alleged have since the beginning of the month, been signing the attendance book in the morning and disappear.

According to the headteacher’s report, while the first two disappear to their charcoal burning business, the third one spends the time in bars, and is said to have been dead drunk for three weeks.

His letter read in part, “This serves to request you to hold the November salary for the following teachers who have hardly attended to learners this month. They are ever absent burning charcoal. They sign the arrival book and disappear for the whole day. The other has been drunk and out of class for 3 consecutive weeks”.

When contacted for a comment, in his response, CAO noted that he is aware of the three’s actions, and disclosed that he has initiated disciplinary action first by holding their salary with effect from this month (November), and summoned them to appear before the rewards and sanctions committee.
