A driver, Lubulwa Hamza, was injured and hospitalized after a confrontation with security personnel during a National Unity Platform (NUP) campaign event in Sironko District.

According to SP Taitika Rogers, the Police Spokesperson for Elgon Region, Hamza, driving a Toyota Wish (UBM 430K), allegedly overtook the NUP presidential candidate’s convoy, refused to stop when flagged down, and nearly collided with a security vehicle.

Taitika said Hamza resisted arrest, leading to a scuffle where he sustained a head wound.

“Allegations that he was shot are false and not supported by clinical evidence,” said SP Taitika.
