The joint Anti-Stock Theft Unit in Karamoja (ASTU) and the UPDF in Karenga have carried out an operation where they recovered two sub machine guns and arrested the illegal owners.
On May 21st, 2025, Lomeritum Lobwol Simon Peter of Lokorio village was arrested on suspicion of having an illegal gun in his possession. He led security agencies to his house where the SMG rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

Earlier on May 4th, 2025, Lokuda Gabriel, 70, of Komen village, was arrested after his wife alerted security forces that he had a gun, another SMG was recovered from his house and he was arrested. The joint security forces of ASTU and UPDF in Karenga have recovered two guns in a series of operations.
