Harsh, unkind and painful words and actions have been exchanged, tear gas has been spread (and inhaled), strokes of the cane illegally administered, and a few lives lost, all in the name of exercising the democratic, constitutional and God-given rights to elect who to lead us!

As Uganda awakens to a new chapter, the just concluded presidential elections mark a turning point. Amidst the trials of democracy, it’s time for Ugandans to unite and “build for the future”. Kyaggwe TV editorial urges citizens to put aside differences, forgive, and focus on nation-building, emphasizing that “five years is but a wink of the eye”. With a call to prioritize peace, unity, and progress, Kyaggwe TV’s message resonates: “We all have different, but equally important roles to execute in building a peaceful unified nation”
Kyaggwe TV Food for Thought
IT IS TIME FOR UGANDANS TO ‘BUILD FOR THE FUTURE’
And finally, the long wait is over! The months of anxiety, tension, unanswered questions, doubts, name calling, scolds, bitterness and rows……It is all behind us now and it was sealed off with the January 15th presidential elections.
Although we have for decades in the post- independence era, failed to come to terms with the irreversible truth that one of the tenets of democracy is partaking of the electoral process, it is here to stay for as long we still talk of democracy in the truest and sincerest form and, under the circumstances, no short cut whatsoever seems to be offering itself to us, other than learning to live with it.

Harsh, unkind and painful words and actions have been exchanged, tear gas has been spread (and inhaled), strokes of the cane illegally administered, and a few lives lost, all in the name of exercising the democratic, constitutional and God-given rights to elect who to lead us!
And, to the chagrin of anti-developmental individuals, providence has given the Pearl of Africa another leader to commandeer this nation for another five years. As the old adage has it, ‘All Is Well That Ends Well’.
At Kyaggwe TV, we believe that now that a ‘new leader’ has been bestowed upon Ugandans, the best deal for wanainchi to bury the hatchet, come together and work as a family to take on the responsibility of building our nation. We all have different, but equally important roles to execute in building a peaceful unified nation.
We need to wake up to the reality that although we were created in God’s image as the scripture teaches us, the same scriptures advise us to forgive one another as an invocation to our creator to forgive us our own sins. And in any case, He never created us as subscribers to the UPC, PPP, NUP, JEEMA, NRM, name it! These are tools of division we curved out ourselves, with no attachment whatsoever to God’s plan for as His children!

In the noble cause of striving to strengthen the democratic tenet of electioneering, some of us must have somewhere somehow, stepped on the toes of others, willfully or otherwise, But to all intent and purpose, this way we may not be able to realize the desired goals in life.
Is it not the same scriptures teaching us that vengeance is a reserve for God alone? Then, let us come to the realization that by attempting to assume his divine powers and roles to punish those we assume to have done us wrong, instead of forgiving them, we could be simply grading our entry to hell on judgement day.
And back here on secular world, some of us may be harbouring bitter sentiments based on the results of the recently concluded presidential elections, forgetting that five year is but only a wink of the eye. For comparison’s sake, since the first NRM-led elections in 1996, we have executed seven five-year term elections, and the lucky 9or patient) ones have witnessed and/or participated in them. But can’t we really stretch our patience a little longer to 2031?
Fellow Ugandans especially those born around the same time like some of us, in the 1950s, we owe upcoming generations some explanation about the history of their country. It would be greatly unfortunate when we are obliged to give an account over matters where we are culpable for certain oddities, some of which could have been circumvented or completely avoided.
By the time our great grandchildren come of age, things like JEEMA, UPC, KY, NRM, may have become extinct and tucked away in history archives. Imagine telling these poor souls that your great grandparent so-and-so died because of one of these (to him incomprehensible) jargons!!
A Joyous 2026!
