They will replace the outgoing UPDF representatives, including Gen. David Muhoozi, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, and Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, among others.

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has elected its 10 representatives to Parliament in an exercise held at the UPDF Land Forces Headquarters in Luweero District today.

The representatives were elected through the Army Council meeting chaired by President Yoweri Museveni, the Commander-in-Chief.

The elected representatives include Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, Chief Executive Officer of National Executive Committee (NEC) Lt. Gen. Sam Mugira, and other senior military officers.

The Electoral Commission managed the exercise, which was conducted in line with regulations guiding the election of Special Interest Groups.

The elected representatives are:

– Lt Gen. Sam Okiding

– Col. Sylvia Meeme

– Col. Night Ikiriza

– Lt. Gen. James Mugira

– Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma

– Brig. David Gonyi

– Maj. Gen. Henry Masiko

– Col. Victor Nekesa

– Maj. Gen. James Kinalwa

– Brig. Joseph Semwanga

They will replace the outgoing UPDF representatives, including Gen. David Muhoozi, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, and Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, among others.

The newly elected army MPs are expected to be formally received by Parliament for swearing-in, after which they will assume their legislative roles in the House.
