The Uganda Police Force have confirmed the arrest of a prime suspect in the gruesome murder of Pamela Tumwebaze, the Dean of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), who was strangled to death on Tuesday night by an unknown assailant.
The development was announced by the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), Assistant Inspector General of Police Tom Magambo, through a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In his brief statement, Magambo revealed that the suspect was apprehended by a joint security team comprising police officers and the Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce (JATT). He, however, did not disclose further details about the identity of the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

He added that the Police Spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, will provide comprehensive updates as investigations progress.
Tumwebaze was attacked and killed at her home in Ggwafu Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono Municipality. Her death has sent shockwaves through the UCU community and beyond, with students, staff and residents expressing grief and outrage over the tragic incident.
She is scheduled to be laid to rest on Sunday, February 15, at her ancestral home in Nkokonjeru, Mbarara District, as family, friends and colleagues prepare to bid farewell to a respected educationist and administrator.
